SHIPPENSBURG – According to Pennsylvania State Police, Carlisle, one person is dead following an accident on Interstate 81 on Saturday in Southampton Township, Cumberland County.
At approximately 4:20 p.m., the driver of a Toyota Corolla was driving south on Interstate 81 near mile marker 26.7 when it went off the road and struck a tree, according to police.
After the impact, the vehicle flipped on its roof and came to a final rest.
Emergency personnel determined the driver was deceased at the scene, according to police.
The name of the driver has been withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
An autopsy is to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
