SHIPPENSBURG – A Shippensburg man was arrested on charges he chased a man with a crow bar and assaulted a woman.
Lee Wells, 22, Shippensburg, is charged with assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and harassment.
Police were dispatched to help Shippensburg EMS responding to an assault victim Monday afternoon. Officers had been called to 21 Cumberland Ave. earlier in the shift for a domestic dispute, but the victim was not very cooperative at the time.
Police said the victim called her family to pick her up after the alleged assault, but the family contacted EMS. While EMS was there, Wells returned.
According to police, Ian Smith, 31, New Kingstown, Pa., approached Wells, putting him on the ground, because he was concerned Wells would assault the woman again.
Wells allegedly went to his truck and got a crow bar and chased Smith with it. Wells fled but was stopped by an officer responding to the scene.
No one was struck by the crow bar, but the woman did suffer injuries as a result of the alleged assault. She was taken to Chambersburg Hospital and released.
