CHAMBERSBURG >> A Shippensburg man is in jail after he allegedly forced two women at gunpoint to drive him to Chambersburg on Saturday.
Demetrius Rashawn Runkle, 19, Shippensburg, allegedly discharged his weapon in the Shippensburg Police Department’s jurisdiction, and had held two female passengers hostage at gunpoint and forced them to drive him to Chambersburg, according to Chambersburg Police.
Chambersburg Police stopped the man around 1:53 p.m. after being informed by Shippensburg that he was coming through the area.
Runkle was stopped in the 500 block of Montgomery Avenue and was taken into custody.
According to an officer with the Chambersburg Police Department, Runkle was closely associated with the women and one of the individuals is a family member.
A firearm was retrieved from the vehicle and Runkle was then turned over to Shippensburg Police Department.
Runkle is being charged with two counts of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of attempting to alter or obliterate a mark of identification, according to police.
According to court records, Runkle is currently lodged at Cumberland County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 20.
