SHIPPENSBURG — Thousands in the Shippensburg area lost power Thursday morning after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole.
A 68-year-old man crashed into the pole in front of 512 W. King St. just before 9 a.m. after experiencing a medical emergency, Shippensburg Police Officer Lee Kauffman said.
More than 2,000 Penelec customers lost power as a result. Power was restored to most within a few hours.
The affected area of West King Street was closed while crews worked to repair the downed power line. Traffic was detoured onto Lurgan and Cumberland avenues.
