SHIPPENSBURG – A man who allegedly stole a sandwich from Sheetz told police he was “hungry and needed to eat.”
Shippensburg Police were called to Sheetz fer a retail theft 3:38 a.m. Friday. Blaise Diehl, 28, a resident of Shippensburg University, ordered an MTO and then started to pull items off the shelf. He attempted to pay for the items with a debit card but did not have the available funds, according to police.
He refused to pay the remaining balance and allegedly took the items and left the store. Police were able to locate Diehl a nearby. When he was told he was under arrest for retail theft, Diehl reportedly told police, “l took the items because I was hungry and needed to eat.” Diehl was transported to the booking center in Cumberland County where he was issued a citation for retail theft.
A few weeks ago, Diehl allegedly went into Sheetz carrying two ski poles and damaged a baby changing table and floor tiles using the ski poles. Criminal mischief charges are pending as a result of that incident.
