Shippensburg man airlifted from I-81 crash

SOUTH NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP – A Shippensburg motorcyclist was flown to Hershey after a crash on I-81 Monday morning.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Carlisle, Travis L. Sollenberger, 23, was driving between two vehicles trying to pass them near mile marker 32 northbound around 7 a.m. Monday.

Sollenberger failed to clear the vehicles and his Honda Superhawk struck the rear of a Chevy Corvette driven by Daryl Watson, 47, Shippensburg.

The bike went into skid and came to a rest in the center median. Sollenberger was airlifted to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with undetermined injuries. Watson was not injured.

Shippensburg Fire and EMS, Shippensburg fire police, West Shore Paramedics, Life Lion and Hippensteel’s Towing assisted at the scene.
